Python for Time-Series Modelling

This is a course for traders, financial analysts, risk analysts, fund managers, quants, and scientists working with time-series data.

Prerequisites

The Introduction to Python course from Python Charmers, or equivalent experience (3+ months if self-taught).

Expected Outcomes

This course will teach you about analyzing and modelling time-series data in depth.

Course Syllabus

Day 1: Time-series analysis

Day 1 covers ...:

  • Handling time-series data: parsing dates; resampling; asfreq; between_time

  • Joining of time series; searchsorted; merge_asof

  • Handling timezones

  • Data cleaning; interpolation; imputing missing data

Day 2: Statistical inference and regression models

Day 2 covers ...:

  • Hypothesis testing

  • Statistical significance
  • Confidence intervals and the Bootstrap
  • Normality tests
  • Cross correlation
  • Regression tests
  • Multicolinearity

Day 3: Time-series modelling and forecasting

Day 5 teaches you ...:

  • Ordinary least squares (OLS) models; multivariate OLS
  • Other regression models: robust, WLS, ...
  • Common time-series models in Python: AR, ARIMA
